On the Market: It's a Craftsman Weekend
To be honest, while we’ve watched and searched, we haven’t seen very many interesting houses on the market lately. Sure, there are some pretty sweet houses on Yakima Avenue for over $1 million, but that’s not exactly the kind of places our friends are looking for (correct me if I’m wrong). Today, a few interesting homes came on the market. Here are our favorites:
|
| This is an absolutely gorgeous looking Craftsman in the Wapato Park area of South Tacoma. This house appears to be architecturally interesting. It has a two car garage – a rarity around here. At $219k it’s a decent price. A lot more affordable than an equivelant house near the North End.

| For those folks that really want to be in the North End, we have this cute 1200 square foot home. It’s located near UPS. Depending on how you feel about being near a university this could be a good thing or a bad thing. The paint looks fresh and the size is adequate. The downside of being in North Tacoma is that at a few bucks under $300k, it’s by no means a small mortgage. Personally, I like this area. I lived really close to this house once upon a time.

| The fixer in the group. The neighborhood is great. It’s effectively near UPS, Jefferson Park, the Sixth Avenue Business District and it’s only a tad over $200k. That’s the good part. The downside is that it’s technically a one bedroom. The second bedroom is the unfinished attic space. It’s also bank owned and may have some other problems not easily seen in the photos. But when was the last time you saw an architecturally decent North End home for $208k? Go to Home Depot and buy some new gloves, a couple of tools, and get to work. Sweat equity could add up quick in this neighborhood.
Listed with ERA, but not on their website. So link to Windermere|

| How about a view condo? It’s not a craftsman, but it’s vaguely interesting. Here’s a condo near Stadium High School that is nearly 1400 square feet in a great neighborhood with a great view. The price is equivelant to a lot of smaller spaces in the wannabe hip downtown. To me this place is a lot more interesting. Watch the ships in Commencement Bay from your window. Watching my rain gutters overflow on days like today makes me think that a condo would be a good idea.
I have no idea who’s listing this property. Link to Windermere|
