On the Market: Weyerhaeuser Mansion

This News Tribune story caught our eye this morning. Weyerhaeuser Mansion on the market?

According to the TNT story, the mansion’s worth is assessed at more than $3 million. That’s a fair increase from the $250,000 the Northwest Baptist Seminary paid for it in 1975.

Whaddya think, Tacoma? Shall we pitch this one to the McMenamin brothers?

I heard the crypt is really scary.

@4 RR…think if we put on some ties they’d give us a walk-through? I have also heard about the crypt and think this is a great time of year for an open house.

I’ve been on many tours of the mansion and never heard any mention of the crypt or saw a crypt. Any idea where it is on the property or in the house?

The basement is pretty cool though, the pipe organ room is down there along with the murals that the nuns painted.

the entrance to the crypt has been sealed years ago and remains unlisted out of respect for the family, but it is there… full of bones… strange masonic stuff too. That’s all i’m going to say. Don’t need anymore treasure hunter competition.

RR – Are you pulling our leg? What bones are there? Weyerhaeuser family?

If it’s so secret, how do you know about it?

I’ve ALWAYS wanted that place as my house. I would turn the carriage house into a Brewery and restore the greenhouse to grow hops. Also, I’d build a fifty foot statue of myself in the driveway dressed in armor. I would also more than likely begin wearing a monocle… Immediately.

    ahhh, delusions of Grandeur…

Yeah, can you say “skeletons in the closet”? I knew you could.

  • RR Anderson October 7, 2010

There are secrets in that place no man should know. The truth was revealed to me quite by accident… a story for another time… but I have a map that agents of the Northwest Baptist Seminary (or NBS) would surely love to get their hands on. The CONSPIRACY is real!

Sounds like RR is starting Halloween fairytales early this year.

  • RR Anderson October 7, 2010

    that’s right. laugh. But who will be laughing when I discover the treasure and the secrets of the * W O O D E N * B O N E S * !?
