One Heart Cafe On The Move

One Heart Cafe is in the process of leaving the Merlino Arts Building. The U-Haul is parked out front and stuff is moving. Their new home? 743 St. Helens – the old Mocha Mountain space across from City Hall.

Good luck in your move!

Look for a lot of musical chairs in the neighborhood.

Good news for the 700 block of St. Helens. I hope they stay open much later than the Tully’s. Sad when Tully’s will not stay open late for Arts Walk.

I hope another coffee shop moves in next to the Grand. I enjoyed the coffee at One Heart but they had some problems with kids hanging out there. I am not againest kids stopping by but these kids where always there and not always well behaved. Hoping they have success at their new location. May need a rule that customers need to buy something to use the computer.

I’m so glad they’re not closing! The One Heart is a warm, friendly place to meet friends or have gatherings. I hope their new location has even more room so they can expand a little.

Our community needs places like these—that support arts/culture, that are creative & funky (but not nasty), that stay open late, that avoid corporate sterility.

Good luck on your new space, One Heart!

    Here’s what I’ve heard:
    It will:
    be Much larger
    remain Funky (never nasty)
    remain Supportive of Art.
    remain Supportive of Music.
remain a place to share ideas/philosophies.
    have a stage for performances.
    Have a real piano.
Still have great coffee and food.
    require romodelling of the space.

I am looking forward to it’s opening.

    Interesting trend, no?

Look at downtown T-Town and what do you see?
Around city hall, a lot of coffee.
Somehow it seems that the center of our local arts culture is city hall.
With the major exception of the UWT sub-hub, most art culture really is within a 4 block radius of city hall.

Noteworthy since the seat of local government is seldom associated with anything positive, especially the arts.

    Like I always say….
… you may find somebody kind to help and understand you
Someone who is just like you and needs a gentle hand to
    Guide them along

So, maybe I’ll see you there
We can forget all our troubles, forget all our cares and go
Downtown, things’ll be great when you’re
Downtown, don’t wait a minute more,
    Downtown, everything’s waiting for you

    Downtown (downtown) downtown (downtown)
    Downtown (downtown) downtown (downtown)

I’m glad to see city employees guzzling coffee (liquid motivation)

I’m just hoping they’ll be open late on Arts Walk nights unlike the Tully’s. I’m certain that One Heart will be a great addition to St. Helens.
