Ownership Transition at King's Books

Yesterday, the Tacoma News Tribune reported that the sale of King’s Books (218 St. Helens Ave) is nearly complete. Current owners Pat McDermott and John Schoppert will finalize the transaction shortly, turning the keys over to the trusted and familiar sweet pea Flaherty. The TNT coverage includes a great interview with Mr. Flaherty (story here).

Sweet pea sat down with Exit133 for an interview in 2009. Derek spoke with him about a range of Tacoma subjects, book selling and the origins of his name. Check it out here.

King’s Books is more than just a book store. It has emerged as a haven for literary and art events with a unique community focus. Its role is certainly vital, and we are excited for its future under the new ownership.

And the cats are staying.
