Pacific Avenue Paving - A Few More Details
So, do you remember that little story from several months ago about Pacific Avenue needing to be paved… again? Well, at this morning’s Downtown Merchant Group meeting we heard more details about the plan to repave Pacific Avenue between South 17th and South 25th. Apparently, when the Link was built the underlying soil in the streets abutting the tracks weren’t reinforced and now the street is failing.
The City has slated the construction to sandwich the Tall Ships Festival in July, with the South 17th to South 21st stretch starting in March and the South 21st to South 25th section being done after the festival. It hasn’t been decided if the work will be done at night or during the day. Each phase is expected to require 40 days worth of work to replace the top two feet of soil and pave the street with asphault.
More details should emerge early next year as we get closer to the start of the project.
Hang in there businesses, we won’t forget about you.
