Phillips Receives Mayor's Endorsement
As I said earlier, this is going to be an interesting year…
Tacoma, WA, March 5, 2007: Bill Baarsma, Mayor of Tacoma, today announced his endorsement of Jonathan Phillips to succeed term-limited Bill Evans. Phillips previously announced his intent to run for the at-large Position 8 on the Council.
“I have known Jonathan for almost ten years, and have been very impressed with his dedication to protecting and improving Tacoma’s neighborhoods and their business districts”, Baarsma said.
“When Jonathan served as a temporary appointee on the City Council in 2005, he brought to the dais a working knowledge of city government and keen understanding of challenging City issues that proved an asset to us during that period of transition. Jonathan was able to contribute valuable insights on diverse topics, such as historic preservation, funding for neighborhood councils and business districts the purchase and development of Hilltop properties, the mini-casino issue and development along the Thea FossWaterway, to name a few.”
“I respect Jonathan’s integrity and his passion for the City and know he will serve with the energetic leadership we need to continue Tacoma’s renaissance”, Baarsma concluded.
