The Fate of Camp 6
After a long period of uncertainty, historical logging equipment and other artifacts from the Camp 6 Logging Museum will be leaving their current location in Point Defiance over the next year. Some will head to a logging museum in California, some to the Mount Rainier Scenic Railway in Elbe. The Camp 6 Museum closed in May after steady drops in revenue due to decreasing visitor numbers.
Although the pieces are being preserved for posterity, rather than sold for scrap metal, their relocation leaves a bit of a hole, both in the local history available to the public in Tacoma, and a physical hole in the space rented from Metro Parks. Given that the logging museum is gone, what would be a good replacement?
