Pinball Comes to Tacoma

As at least a few of you know, I may have an occasional pinball habit. Well, this weekend is not going to help ... who wants to join me?

The 2013 Northwest Pinball and Arcade Show takes place June 7th-9th at the Greater Tacoma Convention & Trade Center, featuring 400 pinball and arcade games all set on free play! While playing games is the highlight of the show, the event also includes tournaments, guest speakers, world record attempts, vendors, collectibles, prizes and seminars. 

The Show 

This show is the biggest of its kind in the Pacific Northwest and has a national reputation as one of the largest and most well run pinball and arcade shows in the country. In its sixth year, the NW Pinball and Arcade Show draws thousands of pinball and arcade fans and players from around the world to the Northwest each June. 

The Games 

The show will feature 400 pinball and arcade games ranging from the 1950s to the newest games of today. Play all the classic pinball and video games you remember from growing up along with rare pinball games like Hercules, Predator, a Duck Hunt prototype, as well as the brand new Wizard of Oz and Metallica pins. All the games will be free to play with the price of admission! 

Prizes 

Every hour throughout the show, arcade and pinball related prizes will be given out, from game artwork to arcade related merchandise. One lucky winner per day will win a full-sized pinball or arcade game! 

The grand prize will be a brand new X-Men pinball game drawn Saturday evening by Stern Pinball president Gary Stern. 

Tournaments 

Pinball players will have the chance to compete in two International Flipper Pinball Association (IFPA) sanctioned Northwest Pinball and Arcade Show Tournament for World Pinball Player Rankings points and prizes. Friday night Stern Pinball will be hosting a Metallica pinball tournament. There will also be a variety of smaller fun and kid oriented pinball tournaments hosted by the Seattle Pinball Museum. 

Speakers 

Every year the event brings designers and artists from the pinball and arcade industry to talk about their craft and their experiences.  The show brings the highest caliber of industry talent in the nation! Speakers include: 

• Steve Wiebe, star of the hit documentary movie “The King Of Kong” 

• Gary Stern, owner & president of the world’s largest pinball manufacturing company Stern Pinball 

• Python Anghelo, pinball designer and artist of games like Cyclone, Taxi, and PinBot, speaking on the “The Future Of Pinball” 

• Kevin O’Connor, the most prolific artist in pinball, whose credits include Monster Bash, Kiss, Creature From The Black Lagoon and over thirty more games 

• Gerry Stellenberg, owner of Multimorphic, designers of the new P3 Pinball system 

• Jersey Jack Pinball’s Butch Peel, talking about the making of the brand new Wizard Of Oz pinball game 

• Kevin Kulek and Aaron Klumpp of Skit B Pinball talking about and presenting their new Predator pinball game 

• Director Jeff Von Ward presenting his movie “The Space Invaders: In Search of Lost Time”
