Place Your Order For Bimbo's Sauce

We missed an intriguing tweet last Sunday:

So we didn’t get the chance to taste the famous sauce last weekend. But if you missed it too, there’s this:

There’s been a good deal of back and forth and uncertainty over the Bimbo’s name and recipes over the years, but if we’re to believe the twitterverse, Jerry Rosi, great-nephew of the founder of Bimbo’s has resurrected at least one of the Bimbo’s sauces.

The good folks at Stadium Thriftway tell us that the sauce is the original recipe, and that Rosi will be back again this weekend, cooking up 65 quarts for customers to enjoy in their own kitchens. You can pre-order now by giving them a call at (253) 627-8275, and pick up your sauce on Saturday afternoon at 2pm

Did you get the chance to pick up some of the sauce at Stadium Thriftway last weekend? How was it? And if you’re among the long-time Tacomans who had the chance to taste the original, how did it compare?

Put ourselves on a waiting list Sunday morning, picked up the sauce about 3:20 and by 5:00 we were enjoying some great spaghetti ala Bimbo’s. Were told that the sauce would be available each Sunday at Thriftway in limited supply ($12.99 for 32 oz.). Never tried the original restaurant but what we had was very good.

The city of Tacoma pays $300,000 for the Bimbos recipe and trade name, then sells it back to the family for a mere $500. Always looking out for the taxpayers.
