Point Defiance Park's 5 Mile Drive Closed

This just in from Metro Parks Tacoma:

Point Defiance Park’s Five Mile Drive, Fort Nisqually & Off-leash area Closed Due to High Wind

High wind conditions have downed a tree along Five Mile Drive in Point Defiance Park. Park maintenance crews are in the process of removing the tree, however, for the public’s safety this area of Point Defiance Park will remain closed until wind gusts subside. Pedestrians are advised to refrain from accessing these park areas until further notice.

Fort Nisqually, as well as the Point Defiance Off-leash area, which is located on Five Mile Drive, is closed for the remainder of the day.

The Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium, Boathouse and park bowl are not affected by the closure of Five Mile Drive and are currently open for business.

Be careful out there.
