Political Roundup for February 8th

In this fast and furious campaign before tomorrow’s caucus, Democrats across the state are casting their support behind either Clinton or Obama. This goes from the highest state levels to the municipal level with current and former city councilmembers chiming in with their support all over the state.

Which made us a little curious about whether Tacoma’s elected officials were supporting any particular candidate. Here’s what we heard from the Tacoma City Council:

  • Julie Anderson endorsed Obama and has hosted some of his Pierce County organizing meetings
  • Jake Fey has not endorsed a candidate but is supporting Obama
  • Connie Ladenburg is undecided
  • Marilyn Strickland supports Obama
  • Rick Talbert has not endorsed a candidate but is supporting Clinton
  • Lauren Walker is undecided

That’s one official endorsement, 3 supports, and 2 undecideds. If we hear who Baarsma, Manthou, or Lonergan are supporting we’ll let you know.

The participants in the Tacoma blogosphere who have let their preference be known, which I have seen, have unanimously supported Obama.

I could be way off, but from what I’ve seen, it seems like the the lower-ranking Dems are much more likely to support Obama, while the higher-ups go for Clinton (Gregoire being the exception). What do you think?

Its basically true. The war horses are more likely to endorse Hillary. (Noting wrong with war horses BTW).

That’s why there is an increasing concerns about the superdelgates voting much differently that their constituants.

One has to question any significant disparity of the regular to superdelegates voting pattern as it is highly undemocratic.
