Portland Developer Buys Elks Building

Hot off the presses. The News Tribune is reporting that Portland developer Williams & Dame Development will buy the much loved, yet much hated, Elks Building.
The company plans to build condominiums on the adjacent vacant lot and refurbish the old lodge as either an entertainment venue or offices, said Tacoma City Manager Eric Anderson. Terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
With experience in Portland, Los Angeles, and Bend, they’ll be an interesting newcomer to Tacoma’s development scene.

I grew up in South Seattle, but I do remember Never Never Land. I’m sure we only went through a couple of times, but it stuck with me. If I ever win the bizillion dollar lottery, I will try to restore it.

Fuck Tacoma! The only thing that was ever cool about it was the urban decay and last man on earth vibe. Just leave shit alone and let the people do what they want with it!
