Post Office Closure Update - Comments Still Being Taken

We posted yesterday on the Post Office closure public meeting held last night, and the potential implications of such a closure.  So, according to friends on the street and the TNT, the turnout for the public comment session was good.  Many of the commenters, for understandable reasons, were Post Office employees, but others were not.  Many Tacomans, particularly in the business community, are concerned about losing overnight delivery of mail.

The USPS is currently conducting 252 studies across the country on similar closures and consolidations.  The determination has yet to be made, according to officials, and 17 studies elsewhere have returned results that showed the changes would be a bad fit for the communities served.  If this is an important issue for you, there’s still a chance to add your voice; public comment is being accepted until December 2nd.
