Proposal to Merge WSHM with Spokane?

According to the Associated Press, a proposal from the Governor’s office would merge our Washington State History Museum and the Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture in Spokane. The board would be combined. Certain support services like IT and accounting would be consolidated. The executive would be in Tacoma with a museum manager in Spokane. The combined organization would save $500k per year. They think. It is part of the state’s overall goal for a budget reduction of $5.7 billion.

Both Executive Directors are skeptical.

My husband and myself were taking a walk this morning and found a ball on Narrows Dr. behind a power pole…he remembered reading about the balls in the paper last week.

removal of the fence would drive a dagger into the business interests of the museum… and…. uh…. wait what was this about? a merger with Spokane? I have no opinion on that prospect. Though like changing the presidents we like Israel could take advantage of the confusion to strike our enemies of fence-dom before the new administration takes power.

I hope the Spokane people end up responsible for running our museum.
