University of Puget Sound Named To Top 10 Vegetarian Colleges
The University of Puget Sound has made another list. Just a few days after learning that it had earned a Woodie, the youth arm of PETA, peta2, has named Puget Sound to the top 10 list of the Country’s Most Vegetarian-Friendly Colleges.
#7) University of Puget Sound – Much like its legendary school hatchet the University of Puget Sound disappeared briefly during last year’s contest, but it’s back again in 2009—and it’s stronger than ever. Students rave about the “Vegetarian & Co.” section of The Diner, but all over campus, students can enjoy delicious entrées, including veggie barbecue riblets on a French roll, sunflower patties with marinara sauce, and Field Roast sloppy Joes. Ahh, it’s good to be back, eh?
Getting hungry.

I can’t imagine that UPS is really more vegetarian than Evergreen in Olympia. Who compiled this list?

Why do vegetarian cooks try to immitate meat dishes? Riblets are small ribs. Ribs are bones. Riblet meat is the muscle tissue on those bones. BBQ vegetable matter is rediculous!
We slow cook meat in order to make it tender.

How would you like it if I put together a tossed salad of shredded chicken and shredded beef. I’ll dye it green so that it looks like spinach or lettuce and call it “tossed green non-vegetarian salad”
There – take that!

I’m normally not a fan of fake meat products myself, but the field roast stuff is awesome. It’s also from a semi local company (Seattle). Metropolitan Market stocks it.

As a vegetarian, I also don’t see the need for meat substitutes. At the same time, there’s nothing wrong with a portobello sandwich/burger or some bbq tomato/onion/pineapple/peppers/etc kabobs. Mmmmm… Vegetables are good on their own. You don’t have to take out what makes them good to get them to look like meat!
Congratulations PSU!

I don’t know any vegetarians that gave up meat so they could enjoy crappy soy substitutes… myself included.
I really think the fake meat thang is the meat-cooking-caterers who couldn’t come up with anything better.

Vegatable kabobs on the grill are acceptable as long as they are not called something silly like “chicken-less chicken kababs”. Vegetables are great. They don’t need to be dressed up like crappy substitutes for meat.
But there is something wrong with portabello burgers. They taste like dirt. That is a problem. And don’t tell me to mask it with garlic and oregano and thyme and kerosene.
And by the way. Congratulation PSU!

@Altered Courds
FYI, your supposed to brush the dirt off before you grill the portabellos.

That’s just hilarious stuff, TO’T. I see you’re keeping a solid footing atop a couple of lists yourself.
