Racial and Social Justice Films at History Museum

As this year’s presidential campaign has shown, starting an honest discussion about race in America isn’t easy. But it is important, so we applaud any attempt to bring such a conversation to Tacoma.

To that effect, the Washington State Historical Museum and the YWCA Pierce County will present a series of four films on racial and social justice over the coming months. The museum will host the screenings on free admission nights. After each film, a moderator will lead an audience discussion on relevant social issues. The first film, the 1994 documentary The Color of Fear, will be screened Sept. 25 from 6 to 8pm.

The series continues throughout the fall and winter with the films Way of the Warrior, The Way Home, and Mirrors of Privilege. This looks to be a perfect forum for those looking to think more broadly about race.
