Ravenous in Downtown Tacoma

We ate at Ravenous last night for the first time since 1997.  It’s located in downtown Tacoma, across from the Pantages Theater on Broadway. Our friend Michael suggested it.  I asked him if he actually read this site and noticed that I had recently mentioned Ravenous.  He said that he hadn’t.  He’s one of our friends that feels weird reading my words on a site, when we could be talking in person.  Pure coincidence (I think he’s a closet reader of Exit133).

Anyway, we ate at Ravenous last night and had a very good time.  We started with the amazing spicy clam and mussel appetizers.  Our entrees included a pizza, chicken marsala, and a rack of lamb.  Each dish seemed simple, yet somehow the flavors were just right.  The sauces were great.  The wine list focuses on the affordable.  Very few wines cost more than $30 a bottle.  Most were in the $20s.  All in all, it was a very satisfying meal.

The place itself doesn’t appear to have changed in any way since the last time I was there.  It’s rather small, warm and cozy.  We enjoyed the ambience.

It is a bit concerning that there was only one other occupied table the entire weeknight we were there.  Go out.  Try it.  Tell us what you think.  Or were we the only ones that haven’t been to Ravenous in a while?
