Rob McNair-Huff To Leave the City of Tacoma

The reorganization, reprioritization, and reshuffling at the City of Tacoma continues. On Friday, word came down that Rob McNair-Huff, the city’s Community Relations Manager would be leaving at the end of this week as the City Manager takes the role of city spokesperon in a new direction and builds his team. Rob has been our main contact at the City since the beginnings of Exit133. He is also one of our original Tacoma Runners. We’re curious to see TC’s vision for this department moving into the future.
Rob’s last day will be June 29. He has no plans to leave Tacoma.
We wish you the best of luck, Rob.

TC’s new plan:
Tightly controlled releases to the media though the COT’s new “Information Accuracy” department.

Maybe this job doesn’t really need to be filled. In the midst of a prolonged recession perhaps we don’t need to be paying someone $52 per hour to twitter about city stuff..

I will miss Rob. His work at the City was superb. He was a great source of information.
I wonder if we are cutting an arm off with all these budget cuts.

I thought I had read someplace that he built a staff in that division to 19 people. The article also went on to say that Rob’s proudest and best accomplishments were his ability to redesign the city website and the creation of the city’s Facebook page. Is this true? If so, I’d expect a helluva lot more from a staff of 19.
