Ruston Development Moratorium Lifted

The City of Ruston is open for business again.
We wrote in last month about the emergency moratorium on any new commercial development in Ruston. Some perceived it as hasty and possibly overkill.
Now the Ruston council has repealed the moratorium, and enacted some changes to the city’s development codes.
Ruston Home writes that a trio of ordinances to amend the code was passed without a second reading (and so without a full public process). The changes, according to RH are mainly clarifications, but would also apply design standards from the Pearl Street zone to the rest of Ruston’s commercial zone. The increased design requirements would be extended, but without the increased height allowed along Pearl.
While we understand that things in Ruston operate on a slightly smaller scale from Tacoma, we’re still not sure about waiving full public process…
