Schuster Parkway Closures
Work is progressing on the Stadium Way improvements. If that would normally be a part of your daily commute, it can’t be done soon enough, but nonetheless, it progresses. And now, a part of that progress will include the closure of the southbound lanes of Schuster Parkway.
In last week’s report from the City Manager, Council received notice that work to repair the retaining wall on Schuster Parkway below Stadium Way, in the vicinity of South 4th Street would require closures of both southbound lanes of Schuster Parkway from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Friday, from May 27 through July 19. Pedestrian access to the sidewalk in that area will also be restricted for two to three weeks during the closure. After 9 p.m. one of the lanes will open back up to traffic.
During the closures, detour signage will direct southbound traffic to turn onto Dock Street, and then either back into downtown or I-705 via South 15th Street. Anyone unlucky enough to try to walk south into downtown on the sidewalk will also be directed to take the Dock Street detour.
