Shift Happens

Go Local Tacoma has a question for you: In 2011 did you have a shift in the way you think, in the way you do business, the way you relate, eat, drink, buy, spend, communicate and build the future of our community? Then get ready to take it to a whole new level in 2012?
Go Local is inviting local independent businesses, non profits, artists and citizens who support them to Tacoma Shift Happens 2012. The event on January 30th celebrates all things local as Go Local gears up for 2012. Shift Happens will kick off from 1:00 to 4:00 with a series of “sustainability smart labs” aimed at small businesses. Titles include: “Key Indicators of successful Entrepreneurs;” “Unlocking Your Situated Advantage: the hidden wealth potential of body, place, and commons;” “Customer Acquisition Tool Box;” and “Becoming a BEST Business.” The smart labs are open to all (registration required), and cost $10 for one or all. The rest of the event is free.
Following the workshops, the free programming will include a “Local Food and Beverage Extravaganza Happy Hour,” the 2011 Pledge prizes, Indie Awards, a Mayoral State of the City Address, and a local vendor showcase. It sounds like a great event, and the free local appetizers and local drinks only sweeten the deal (we do like a good extravaganza).
