Make Shift Happen

Go Local Tacoma is asking you this holiday season to make the decision to shop at local businesses, and by so doing, put your holiday spending back into the local economy.

Throughout 2011, Tacoma Shift Happens has asked Tacomans to sign up for any or all of four pledges to keep our spending local and support local businesses. The pledges focus on small but important changes we can all make in our spending:

Pledge 1: Spend $10 in 10 Local Independent businesses
Pledge 2: Donate $10 ten times or any combination to make $100 to a Local Independent Non-Profit
Pledge 3: Visit 10 Local Business Districts and/or Farmers Markets
Pledge 4: Attend 10 Go Local Sponsored events

With the holiday shopping season upon us, there is still plenty of time to accomplish at least one of these pledges, and with conversations about the local economy, budgets and so on, this is something we can all feel good about doing.
