Pierce County will rent some ferries to the State while they work on four new ferries to replace the aging vessels, some of which are 80 years old. Link to The News Tribune
Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels was elected Chair of Sound Transit, replacing Pierce County Executive John Ladenburg. Also, a study indicates that a transit-only proposition in November 2008 may succeed. More at The Stranger
With the approval of commuter rail through Tacoma, at least one business who will be affected—Star Ice & Fuel—will be considering new locations in the Nalley Valley, elsewhere in Tacoma, and Fife. Started in 1888, it is one of Tacoma’s oldest businesses. Link to The Biz Buzz Blog
