Should the Tacoma Narrows Bridge Be For Sale?

Toll rates will be going up on the Tacoma Narrows Bridge, that much is certain. How much they will increase by, however, remains to be seen. According to the Port Orchard Independent one Washington legislator may have a way to lessen the increase; State Representative Jan Angel, R-Port Orchard is exploring the idea of selling the naming rights for the bridge.

It is theoretically possible to sell the naming rights for the bridge, but there are some logistical hurdles to clear, and the question of what the price tag would be – and then there’s public opinon…

What do you think of the idea of the Russell Investments Bridge? Or the Brown and Haley Bridge? Or, if you really want to confuse those out-of-towners, let’s pool our resources and have it named the … are you ready for this? … “Tacoma Narrows Exit133® Bridge.” Sounds classy to us. What do you think?

    I oppose selling naming rights with every fiber of my body.

    I’d rather pay a $30 toll than call it the Clear Channel Bridge.
