Show Your Tacoma Pride in the "Shoot the T" Photo Contest

For all you photographers out there, a local photo contest kicking off next week might be of interest: the "Shoot the T" photo contest asks photographers to highlight the best of Tacoma.

Shoot The T is a photo contest created to showcase the beauty of Tacoma as well as promote art and creativity in the City of Destiny. The winning contestant is destined for a grand prize, but also the honor of capturing a photo that brings pride to a hometown.

The contest is a collaboration between a handful of local businesses, and offers an appropriately local prize: $253 and a really nice, hand-made, leather camera strap from Black Anchor Workshop; as well as a one-year subscription to Photoshop CC.

The contest will be run through an Instagram account, so you'll need one of those to participate or follow along with the first round, in which finalists will be selected from all entries by number of "likes." Those finalists will be printed and featured on display at the Gallery of Ambition, a Spaceworks project, where the public will again have a chance to vote - this time in person - to select the top five photos. The winner will be chosen from those five by a panel of judges. (For specific dates and other details, see the full Shoot the T press release.

So, start planning your best shots, and follow @shootthet_tac on Instagram. We look forward to seeing the best of Tacoma through a variety of lenses.

Sounds great and I'm planning to get involved, but was the Twitter account deleted?
