Sirius Withdraws Elks Bid

Another effort to save the Elks Lodge has failed. We’ve been waiting anxiously to hear if Sirius Development Group had decided to purchase the historic property. The Biz Buzz is reporting they have withdrawn their offer.

We’ve been told by folks who have been inside during the recent purchase and sale period that Williams and Dame have done a terrific job at halting the degeneration of the historic structure. But the building will have to continue to wait for a new life.

Sigh.

I am thankful that the roof was repaired during the Williams & Dame era to halt more water damage.

But I am curious if their efforts to keep people out of the building have succeeded. It looks pretty well sealed up. Does anyone know if people are still getting in illegally?

Kudos to Ken and Trevin for the creativity. I am looking forward to their next venture.

Re: people getting in. If there is a way in, let’s have an Exit 133 party. I’ll book the live music.

How many Gintz Group’s does Tacoma think they’re gonna get? I’m amazed at the transformation of the Mecca. And next the Luzon…What did the GG guys say?…They like challenges? The Luzon project makes the Elks remodel look like a project for a Home Depot weekend/pony keg construction party.

Let’s call the Gintz guys ourselves… or McMenimens…

    Argh…

    NEXT IN LINE PLEASE!!!!

    Sarah @1:
The building is secure and they have not had any issues since work was done.

    Jesse @4:
McMenimens has looked at the property, and at least 1 other site in Tacoma in the last year, and from what we understand they are not interested in located here at this time. If they were, Williams and Dame would have already done it. These two companies have worked together before and are good partners.

I want the Elks to be saved, but I think we need to stop repeating the same old tired ideas and start thinking outside the box. This project would have been a great example of the innovative possibilities. Alas, we must now wait for the next crazy, napkin drawn, impossible idea.
