Sound Transit May Sell Property to City of Tacoma

Sound Transit is considering selling a piece of property to the City of Tacoma. This surprised us a little, because the last we heard, the City was doing its best to unload the properties it currently owns.

The property in question is actually made up of four parcels located at the northwest corner of South Tacoma Way and Pacific Avenue, and on the northeast corner of South 26th and Pacific Avenue. It's surplus land from the D to M Street Sounder project.

According to the press release, the property, totalling 35,000 square feet would be used for utilities and landscaping adjacent to the Sounder Commuter Rail LIne.

Before the property could change hands, the deal requires a public hearing, which is scheduled for this Thursday, followed by approval from both the Sound Transit Board and the City of Tacoma.

Of course they want to sell it, that way they don't have to maintain it. This was a question from day one.

A photo of the parcel would be nice.
