Heyo-
I live up the Hill, in Lincoln. I’m looking forward to meeting some of the Dome District folks.

Here’s what I got from the Open House:
- The decision to make moving Amtrak a priority was made long ago by the Washington State DOT. It was with this obligation that Sound Transit signed an agreement with the state to let Amtrak use this route. This will allow Seattle-Portland commuters to shave 10 minutes off their trip.
- Electric (streetcar or light rail) can’t go on this route because Tacoma Rail uses part of the line for a couple customers.
Unless the City of Tacoma puts restrictions on the number of trips allowed by Tacoma Rail (which is owned by the City of Tacoma), there are no limits as to how many trains will run in the future – keeping in mind that 130 acres of warehouse space is under development off South Tacoma Way.
Would the City of Tacoma discontinue Tacoma Rail service on this portion in order that an electric streetcar or light-rail can be used?
From a community and economic development standpoint, this would have a much more far reaching positive impact than encouraging a shipping-based economy.

Thanks for the follow-up morgan. From your post, it sounds like ST was holding the open house to explain their stance rather than discuss options. (So that I am not just reading stuff into your post…) How would you describe the tone of the meeting?
