Sounder Construction Moving Forward

Okay, we’re not really sure why, but this kind of made our day.  If you’re in a hurry, the real action takes place in minute four.

Look at those guys go.  It’s got a certain Chaplin-esque quality to it.

This is the 110-foot long, 100,000 pound steel girder that will form the rail bridge over Pacific Avenue for the new southern-most leg of the Sounder commuter rail.  The girder was eased into place Wednesday, while we were still all wrapped up in the aftermath of a certain council meeting.  Las we heard, you can expect Pacific Avenue to remain closed through the spring.  Construction on the line will continue in the coming months, with rail service to South Tacoma and Bridgeport Way in Lakewood expected to begin in late 2012.
