Spice Up Your Summer Olympics at 6th Avenue Sports Bars
Though airfares to London are often steep, watching this year’s Summer Olympics vicariously through a regular TV can seem somewhat underwhelming for such a momentous global event.
Besides hamburgers, french fries, beer and other staples of the American palate, many sports bars in the area feature enormous HD screens as well as an exciting, communal sports-watching clientele.
On 6th Avenue, Overtime Bar and Grill, Loose Wheel Bar and Grill, West End Tavern and 6th Avenue Sports Bar present similar yet notably varied environments for watching the Olympic games.
Recently, a friend of mine came back from Overtime and told me that the pull-tab games were fun, the drinks were cheap, running for $2.75 each during happy hour, and the food was “greasy and good,” especially the sumptuous mozzarella sticks.
But most importantly, the bar bolsters sports enthusiasm with its adorning portraits of local sports heroes and a centrally located big-screen TV for watching standout games of the year.
Even in its distribution of revenue, Overtime maintains a firm commitment to sports by devoting 10% of its earnings to the Special Olympics.
