Writer Suspended For Copying TNT's Sando
Mike Sando’s Seahawks Blog is one of the most well respected sports blogs out there. I’m not a big football fan. I don’t read the Seahawks Blog. Yet, many people I have met read his site… religiously. He has something going on that people like and I respect that.
Well, we’ve been following the story today of a Boston Globe writer that apparently ‘borrowed’ a bit of Sando material for his own column. Internet research, chaos, and a lot of comments and emails later, the Boston writer has been suspended for two months without pay. My news aggregators for Tacoma are lighting up with football stories. Highly unusual.

Hey, wait a minute, a new trail when the City has failed to maintain the Schuster Parkway trail or sidewalk between Tacoma downtown, past the 4th Street Bridge, and heads to North 30th Street.
Seems-to-me, a few people should walk this existing sidewalk trail system today and create their own opinion just-what is the City of Tacoma doing to maintain existing trail systems before it makes new trails anywhere; following your walk, then attend this new trail dedication and maybe you will see the people in attendance that make these decisions for City property maintenance abandonment decisions in Tacoma; for example, the people that determine what complexities money is spent on within the City of Tacoma today and tomorrow.

I think the investment in the Water Ditch trail is a good thing — that part of the city badly needs amenities like this. But I agree with John about the Schuster Parkway route. Tacoma needs a good bike/pedestrian trail between downtown and Old Town, and the current sidewalk is not it.

I am glad to see the Tacoma bike routes improved. Having a network of trails is so important and while we have a long way to go, every little bit makes a difference.

Cool! It’s nice to see more trails!
I just got back from my, almost daily, walk on the beautiful Scott Pierson trail and I actually walked by another human being. A very rare sighting in this “progressive” town.

I’m also really relieved to see the city finally investing in multi-modal uses, especially trails. In terms of a pedestrian wish list, I wish the city would 1) invest in a pedestrian master plan and 2) find a method to connect the Scott Pierson trail with Point Defiance and the new Chambers Bay trail area in U.Place.
