Stadium302 Opening

Stadium302 is the project across the street from the Stadium Bowl that has been under construction for a while now. Well it is finally celebrating its grand opening this weekend with an open house. From the email:

All are invited to come check out the incredible views and exquisite finishes. Here are just some of the great features: Lutron programmable lighting systems, fully integrated security systems with visual monitor, one-inch glazing in windows for sound attenuation, high-efficiency heating & AC, Miele/Subzero/Bosch appliances, heated master bathroom floors, vacuum systems with recoiling in-wall hose, elevator service, and built-in Viking BBQs! Don’t miss it!

Hmmmm. I wish I had a built in vacuum system. Sigh. At least I can go gawk.

“I’d save like an idiot for two or three years and buy a nice house…”
Or save even a little longer and I’d love to have house like the one next to 302 on their website photo. Or the one next to that, or the one next to that. Just my opinon, but I wish the design of 302 enhanced the character of the neighborhood and surrounding residences.

Question: How much money would it take to discover someone’s IQ?

I can’t figure out how about $30K of “high-end” appliances and pre-wiring turns 1600 sq. ft. (even with that view) into a million+ property. Does. Not. Compute.

what is particularly troubling is that the buyers are paying mortgages on these fancy appliances that only depreciate in value.

Derek – You got me curious, so I took a personal tour of Stadium 302 this weekend. All I can say is WOW!!! I,ve been looking at condos all over Tacoma and Seattle and I’ve never seen anything like these. It isn’t just the high end appliances. It’s everything. The finishes are indeed incredible. Those walnut seven foot doors. The black limestone floors with fossil shells still imbeded. The walnut everywhere. The limestone bathrooms. The attention to detail. Nothing like it anywhere in the Northwest. You ought to go look for yourself. If I had a million, I would buy one today. They’ll sell.

P.S. Mofo, not to get in your face or anything, but being a washed up 40 something severly depressed pretend graphics guy who doesn’t pay his bills, you have no credibility at all. You’ve been discovered man.

Of course they’ll sell. Just likely not in any kind of a quick fashion.
There really aren’t many people in town who can afford a $1+ million abode. But there are some, and I’m quite certain these condos were never meant to aimed at you and I, the lowly working and middle classes.

    No, they won’t sell.

Look at the Esplanade. Those units are like 1/3 the price of 302 Stadium yet the whole damn building sits there still empty.
When are developers and realtors gonna finally figure it out that this is Tacoma. We have neither the money nor the throngs of yuppies to buy these high-end units. This ain’t the housing bubble days, those years of housing hedonism and foolish lending are gone.
It’s deflation back to reality time, and million dollar condos are certainly not reality in this market.
Maybe in LA, Chicago or NYC. Not in Tacoma.
