Startup Weekend Tacoma
Do you have a great idea for a website or business? Do you just wish you had a few more people around to make it happen? Well all your excuses go out the door with the announcement of Start-Up Weekend Tacoma. Held on January 29th, 30th & 31st and hosted at Suite133 – the same great place that hosted Barcamp Tacoma last August – Start-Up Weekend is your chance to get your idea up and running.
Here’s how it works. Friday evening the ideas are pitched and selected and working groups formed. Bring your idea for a business. Others will be there to pitch their ideas or share their skills. Saturday and most of Sunday, everyone works to carry the idea(s) to fruition. At the end of the day Sunday, reports from each team are presented on what worked, what didn’t and the current state of each start-up. At previous weekend startups companies have had enough work done that they walk out online and open for business.
This model for entrepreneurship (and fun) has been tried before via the official Startup Weekend organization. Startup Weekend Tacoma is the result of several conversations from within our tech community. So, we want to try it out.
Anyone interested in helping in the process is encouraged to show up and participate. And they need ideas as well. If you have a good idea for a company but aren’t sure how to make it happen, now’s your time.

Thanks for posting this.
I have since gotten a call from Clint Nelson of the Startup Weekend Org and we are going to chat about how he may be able to help with the event.

5{ entlemen, this is the true way to rebuild the economy. When new technologies are developed and investors are inspired to finance business ventures, that’s when a cycle of optimism will overcome the general public.
Three cheers for Andrew Fry.
