Tacoma is Yelp's "Most Romantic City"

Your Valentine’s Day plans just got easier. If you’re looking for romance, it is a highly-valued aspect of Tacoma’s consumer culture, as determined by the number of romance-related queries prior to Valentine’s Day on the popular Yelp.com. Other cities showed a lot of interest in romance, but Tacoma out-loved them all, as discovered by Tacoma KOMO here.

Yelp, a socially-driven consumer review website, ran statistical analysis of other factors affecting the pink-and-red purchase frenzy looming ahead. The article makes an interesting read – especially if you’re stuck in Hamilton, Ontario. Read the article here, then you’ll understand.

All of this only stands to prove my theory: It’s not overcast – it’s mood lighting.

Ha! Take that, Federal Way! We have WAAAAY more “romantic-ish queries” per capita than you. MorphoTrak must be bummed now, for sure!

Is this because so many businesses downtown have shuttered or moved away that you can have sex with your sweetie at 11th and Pacific and moons is likely to see you?

Really we are the city that is most LOOKING for romance. . . .

Ah, it must be due to our “rebellion against established social rules and conventions.” Or the addition of our brass section.

Tacoma men have big arms, tattoos, and drive trucks. Seattle men have hunchbacks and pasty skin from looking at computers all day. Ladies, who would you like to get romantic with?

    Hilarious.

Today is the day Tacoma is ranking high in on two fronts: romance and future real estate and the overwhelming media reaction is disbelief.

Justin broke up with Britney and left her in Tacoma. Romantic indeed.

Tacoma is the kind of town where a down-on-his luck guy can get a patch of land at a community garden and one day he comes to find out that the next patch over belongs to an impoverished Costa Rican beauty who came here to grow organic bananas. But they’re both hardworking people and they’re really trying to make a better life. He and she struggle day by day, side by side at the community garden. They don’t speak the same language but so much is said between their shared glances.

Before long they’re seen together shoulder to shoulder at local rallies to “Save the WSHM” and “No More Parking Lots” protests. Such inspiration generates a new Tacomic on FeedTacoma.com and he and she become local blog celebrities among the liberal elite.

He and she decide to start a joint blog, “Banana Daquiri” to promote the benefits of community gardens and how their products can shape peoples perceptions. It’s a romantic notion at best but they’re both hardworking people and they’re really trying to make a better life.
