Tacoma Makes Playing Cards Exceeds Funding Goal

We want to congratulate Tacoma Makes on an incredibly successful Kickstarter campaign. The Tacoma Artist Playing Cards project closed its Kickstarter campaign with $21,532 and 400 backers, blowing its original funding goal of $13,000 out of the water. The success of the campaign will allow Tacoma Makes to double its planned production from 2,500 decks to 5,000.

If you’ve been following the Tacoma Makes Facebook page, you’ve caught a preview of the preliminary images of some of Tacoma’s best-loved locations. We still don’t know what to expect to see on the joker, but RR Anderson has been hard at work, and it’s certain to be memorable. Originals of the artwork that will appear on cards will be on display at the Amocat Cafe in October, with an opening party on Friday, October 27.

If you’ve pledged, you probably have a deck or two coming your way in November. King’s Books has agreed to be a distribution point for pick-up, and will be hosting a game night on Thursday, November 8 for fun and thanks, with fun prizes to “deal out.”

If you haven’t pledged yet, you’ll have a chance to pick up a deck for yourself, and a few for gifts this holiday season at local stores. Tacoma Makes will be sending out letters soon to find retail establishments interested in carrying the cards.

We’re excited to see the final product.
