Tacoma Population Breaks 200,000

The City of Tacoma reached a population milestone: we’ve broken the 200,000 mark.

Tacoma has sat just short of that number for a while now, but in April, according to The News Tribune, the population was pushed over the line, growing by 800 to 200,400 residents. Spokane is still the second largest city in the state, but Tacoma is keeping them in sight.

With the economy beginning a turnaround, State Farm coming to town, and regional and City plans for accommodating impending population growth in urban centers in the next few decades, we can expect more where this came from.

But 200,000 is such a nice round number, maybe we should celebrate. How about a great big party on the waterfront? With fireworks ... on Thursday ...

I am willing to do what it takes to contol the poplulation growth. I just underwent a voluntary lobotomy.

Whoa, where was that "You'll Like Tacoma" sign. Can we put it back up?

Let's get a Kickstarter campaign and get that sign back up along I-5 maybe around exit 133 on the side of the highway on the slope.

When I encounter an obese person I don't expect him to brag about his weight gain.
