Tacoma Runners Bring Running Celebrities to Town for a Jog This Thursday

This announcement is brought to you courtesy of the one and only Michael Hahn, founding father of two of Tacoma’s most intriguing outdoor sporting social groups – Tacoma Runners and Tacoma Cyclocross. We’re really pleased to share this exciting bit of news with you. Thanks Mike!

Maybe you’ve seen the parade of joggers in your neighborhood, or wondered why a man in a pink tutu and leopard-print fez just crossed the street in front of you. It’s all part and parcel to the Tacoma Runners’ Thursday Beer Run, a casual weekly event that’s been growing steadily in participation since last January. We wrote about it back in March here. Six of us (Derek and Dan from Exit 133 included) showed up for the first run. We now regularly draw 70 of the friendliest people in Tacoma every Thursday.

This week, the group is welcoming a couple special guests. And if you’ve read the bestseller, Born to Run, you won’t want to miss it.

Micah True (the one and only Caballo Blanco) and Barefoot Ted McDonald will be joining the runners for an easy jog, followed by cold beers at the Harmon Tap Room. The event is also a fundraiser for Micah True’s “Norawas de Raramuri”, a nonprofit organization working on behalf of the indigenous Running-People of Mexico’s Copper Canyon Region.

The run is free, the beers you’ll have to pay for. Sounds like it should be a good time! More information can be found on the Tacoma Runners Facebook Group here.
