Tacoma's Landmarks Preservation Commission Needs You

Historic preservation in Tacoma has been a hot topic around here lately. Do you want to get even more involved? If so, the Landmarks Preservation Commission needs a few new people and the City of Tacoma is inviting qualified individuals to apply for the open positions.

The Landmarks Commission seeks applications for the following positions:

  • Architects (2): Open to professional architects, with current or expired certifications
  • Professional (2): Open to individuals with documented professional experience or training related to historic preservation originating from employment or study within a related discipline.
  • At Large (1): Open to interested Tacoma residents

The LPC oversees the establishment and regulation of landmarks, landmark sites and historic districts. Commission meetings are held at 5 p.m. on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month.

What do think? Are you game?

Sounds like a great opportunity. I’d love to learn more about Tacoma’s historic sites, and be involved in preservation efforts.
