Tacoma's State History Museum Has Vocal Friends in Olympia, But Not Out of the Woods Yet

The Tacoma News Tribune reported this week on proposals by state congressional democrats that would keep the Tacoma Washington State History Museum open. Part of the plan focuses on re-purposing funds reserved for the planned Heritage Center in Olympia.

There seems to be political will to keep the museum open, though the Historic Society has received no official assurances of continued budget for it. The plan most likely to see approval, spearheaded by Jeannie Darneille, has its critics – including Secretary of State Sam Reed. You can read the rest of the story here.

The time for elation is not yet here, but we continue to support this vital institution and its legacy of rejuvenation in Tacoma. How did the fence blocking off the bridge of glass add to the legacy of rejuvenation in Tacoma?

Don’t contact your Congressman/person, because she will tell you that Congress has nothing to do with the Washington State budget. Contact your state representatives.

the state house is a congress. And the link leads to the correct place and our supporting data – including information on how to determine who your representative is. To be fair, I recall recommending that readers contact Obama with any complaints about the downtown parking situation.
