Tacoma Shift Happens 2012 Indie Award Nominations
The fine folks at Go Local/Tacoma Shift Happens are looking for your input. Do you know someone in the community that has gone above and beyond in supporting the local economy? Consider nominating them for a Go Local Indie Award. The awards are available in three categories:
Advocacy Championship – a person or organization that effects change and leads by example in matters of fostering a localized economy, by supporting Local Independent Business and non profits, partnership creation, and community building.
Community Stewardship – a person or organization that fosters a “Local First” mentality by supporting community events, spreading the Go Local message, and being an ambassador by being committed to supporting Local Independent Business.
Entreprenaurial Empowerment – a person or organization that participates in creating opportunities for Local Independent Businesses to access education, tools, financial resources, and methods of strengthen their business through mentorship.
Nominations will be accepted through January 10th, and awards will be presented at Tacoma Shift Happens 2012 on January 30th.

I think Occupy Tacoma is a great candidate. Their coupon book (using local business and local, non-corporate funded energy, is the epitome of how a shift can happen in the way we Go Local.
