For this shoot we plan to re-create some of Stephens 1979 photos.  A $3 donation to cover materials is requested.

Evening Photo Shoot – Japantown
24 May 2007

Japan town, come with us to photograph what remains of Japan town. This is a time sensitive type of project as the dozers and developers are rapidly approaching. Most of what was 400 homes has been erased, but a few remain, including historic foundations, churches (2), houses (about 10 or 12) and a few other surprises. This project is in cooperation with the local Asian community. Photographers are encouraged to bring props such as old toys, broken chairs etc…be creative. Photos from this shoot must be Black and White and will be included in a possible project by the Asian Pacific Cultural Center. Meet at Cutter Point Coffee at 5pm.
Limited to 12 photographers, $3 donation. No Cysewski photos will be traced on this one, we will work with other maps from 1940, and the city directory.

Send an email via the TacomaThenAndNow website if you plan to attend.
