TacomaAngel Network Goes Live
Tacoma now has its own angels. The TacomaAngel Network has formed in our fair city to help young companies enter the real world by providing advice, experience, and money. It’s good to see local investment in local companies. Way back when, at a time when I had few too many side projects and the dot-com thing was going strong, we met with some Eastside angels about a wee little business plan. That was one tough commute and they were so… Eastside… Back on topic – Here’s an excerpt from the Tacoma Angel Network website:
Established in June 2006, the TacomaAngel Network is a non-profit alliance of accredited investors, who are successful entrepreneurs, retired executives, and other business leaders in the greater Tacoma and South Puget Sound area, and who provide investment capital, strategic advice and mentoring to early-stage companies or companies embarking on major expansion efforts to help them achieve market leadership.
The TacomaAngel Network will have as members a healthy mixture of business leaders with extensive experience in related industries and outsiders with a passion for fueling positive changes in our local economy. We will also include investors from venture capital firms or members of existing angel groups and novice investors looking to benefit from participating in a group environment.
The TacomaAngel Network will provide its members with access to a steady flow of promising entrepreneurs who need “risk” capital that is normally not available through other sources. The ultimate goal is to help investors make profitable investments in the high risk/high return private equity market, while fueling the growth of early stage companies in the Pacific Northwest.
I like the potential.
