Tacoma's Best For Sex!

Now that’s a headline to set off your pr0n filters in the office.  So here’s what Cole Cosgrove of the News Tribune came up with:

Never mind glass, grit, Tacoma’s good for sex

Much better…  So what’s the story?  Self Magazine’s December issue has ranked Tacoma tops for sexual health after considering STD rates, HIV tests, sexual education in schools and access to clinics and birth control.

Tacoma’s lower-than-average rate of sexually transmitted diseases also contributed to its high ranking. The average for the 100 metropolitan areas in the study was 149 STD cases for every 100,000 people in a community, Austin said. Tacoma’s average is 52.4 cases per 100,000 people. The worst-ranked city, Jackson, Miss., averaged 218 cases.

Good job, team.

Tacoma residents can observe the accomplishment by giving each other a pat on the back – or maybe some other physical display of affection.

“They can celebrate however they like,” said Austin, the magazine editor, “but the experts in our story definitely recommend using a condom – especially if the city wants to keep its ranking.”
