Tacoma's Most Scenic Places
The TNT’s Scott Fontaine is looking for Tacoma’s most scenic places. He won’t elaborate on the details, but…
If you’re going to take a snapshot and send it to someone who has never been here and likely never will, what locations would you shoot that you feel could really show off Tacoma’s beauty?
Any ideas? Can you help the “Word on the Street” reporter?

I’d have him drive over to north Tacoma and shoot the city at sunrise with a big hurkin lens from the lounge at the Cliff House restaurant. You can get the twinkle of all the lights in the port and the sun off the downtown buildings without having the T-dome in the foreground.

It’s just a short peek at the city as you come off of I-5 northbound and head to the City Center exit off of the spur, but the view compacts the skyline and includes the Museum of Glass, the bridge, the marina, the sound, the convention center and hotels, the history museum and the university into one easily digestible and striking view. At dusk it is wonderful.

If you’re looking for a shot of the Tacoma skyline, I’ve found you get the best views from Marine View Drive as you head toward Browns Point. Personally though I’ve found the coolest view of Tacoma on the 14th floor at St. Joes on the west side of the building where you can get a great view of Nalley Valley and the Narrows.

On top of the Hoffman Hill Condominiums at dusk. Just before you cross the Narrows with sunset light on Mount Rainier. Apex Condos by the Mall facing East in the AM.

my Dad was recently at TG for a few days. He had a stunning view of Wrights Park.

At the end of the RR tracks, between the Martinac shipyard and the Wheeler waterway.
Just plain amazing view of downtown above the water!
