TAM on Flickr
Perhaps you heard last week that the Library of Congress uploaded more than three thousand of their archival photos to Flickr. We thought that was pretty cool.
But a more local organization also started getting into Flickr last week that should be called out as well: Tacoma Art Museum. The Museum has started a Flickr group. Visitors are encouraged to post their photos of the museum to the group (provided they’re taken in the photography-friendly sections of the museum—lobby, Chihuly collection, Open Art Studio, Untitled Café, and other public areas.)
Each month the museum will do a Call for Photos, sometimes inspired by an exhibition, sometimes staff and visitors generated.
January’s topic is birthdays, in honor of TAM’s 5th birthday in its new building (this May). If they can collect enough birthday images, they’ll have a slideshow of birthday images playing during the TAM birthday celebration on May 3.
