TEDxTacoma - Today

Reminder: TEDxTacoma is today. It looks like there may still be some tickets available…

TEDxTacoma is coming to the Museum of Glass. You may be familiar with TED. The organization began in 1984 as a technology, entertainment, and design conference. Since then it has grown into multiple conferences and its 18 minute (or less) Ted Talks regularly sweep the internet. More recently, TED has taken its model for presenting “ideas worth spreading” out into the communities.

The 2012 Tacoma edition of TEDxTacoma will feature a line-up of local movers, shakers, innovators, and dreamers sharing their thoughts around the topic of transformation. The idea is to bring together innovative thinkers, and put the spotlight on their ideas, and hopefully to spark and foster an ongoing conversation. The TEDxTacoma website describes it as “a team community event – embracing ideas worth spreading.”

The list of speakers lists more than 20 from Tacoma and beyond. We see some familiar names, and some who aren’t so familiar – that’s kind of the idea of the TED talks – to shake things up with new ideas from both familiar faces and less well-known voices. Who are you most looking forward to hearing from?
