THA Closes Salishan Six

Tacoma Housing Authority have announced the successful closing of Salishan Six, the next financial phase of the ongoing Salishan redevelopment. After receiving a $35 million HOPE VI grant from the Department of Housing and Urban Development in 2000, the THA began the Salishan project that will demolish 855 worn out public housing units and build a new mixed-income neighborhood of homeowners, renters, commercial buildings and parks.

The goal for Salishan Six was $22,632,646 and this will construct 90 rental units, but the entire project will exceed $225 million. Oof. So how many phases will this take?

Project completion is slated for 2011. Congrats to the THA on their accomplishment despite current economic turmoil.
