The Best D@mn Production of Christmas Revels Ever
We’re nearing the Winter Solstice – that pre-Christmas turning point when the days stop getting shorter, and start getting longer. Along with the shorter days that are soon to be longer, and the growing Christmas excitement, here’s something else to put you in a festive mood: the 20th anniversary of the Christmas Revels.

The Puget Sound Revels presents The Christmas Revels in Celebration of the Winter Solstice this year with traditional English dance, processionals, carols & drama
2012 is Puget Sound Revels’ 20th anniversary year! In celebration we present a Christmas Revels unencumbered by the constraints of time. This Christmas Revels summons the ghosts of many Christmases past and draws on centuries of English song, dance, foolery and drama. It is set in 12th century Haddon Hall, which is scheduled for demolition. The 10th Duke of Rutland and his family arrive for a last visit to their abandoned ancestral home and find it is not abandoned at all, but full of the family’s ancestors gathered for their annual holiday celebration! The show includes: a return of Tony Curry to the Revels stage – this year as a mischievous centuries-old jester; Keith Dahlgren as the 10th Duke of Rutland & Kate Witt as the Duchess; an early instrument ensemble that includes Shulamit Kleinerman; the Seattle Brass Ensemble; a mummers play – as hilarious and playful as always; The Spirits of Haddon Chorus, our adult chorus; Wee Spirits of Haddon, our children’s chorus; the Abbots Bromley Horn Dance. B.J. Douglas once again directs the production with music director Megan Oberfield. Our audiences will delight in another beautiful set design by Martin Christoffel and more wonderful Alex Lewington costumes.
The Christmas Revels® is a seasonal gift to the community of song, dance, beauty, foolery and a dose of audience participation; it’s a joyous, timeless celebration for all ages; it’s a great concoction of folk tradition and high art. Our sell-out audiences gather from all parts of the Pacific Northwest and beyond.
We can always count on the Puget Sound Revels for a good time, and the Christmas Revels are particularly festive. With the 20th anniversary this year, we heard one knowledgeable source call this year’s show “the best damn production of the Christmas Revels ever produced.” We also heard that they might just be on their way to selling out any day now…
