The Goldfish Gallop on August 8th
We know that many of our friends out there beyond the Tacoma internets do enjoy a bit of a jog, run or race every once in a while. So, here’s a little event for you to enjoy next weekend. Let’s start with the press release:
It’s time to put the “fun” in “fun run” and help a worthy cause at the same time! The Goldfish Gallop 5k fun run at 7 pm on August 8 begins at the entrance to Point Defiance Park and ends across the street at the Goldfish Tavern. All proceeds benefit the Greater Metro Parks Foundation, a private, nonprofit organization that is helping build a healthier, more vibrant community by investing in people and parks.
Runners ages 21 and older will enjoy a refreshing evening run through the park followed by refreshing frosty beverages at the Goldfish Tavern. The finish line fun includes discounts on food and beverages, special prizes, fish-face contest and more.
Participants must be 21 or older. Sign up online at www.MetroParksTacoma.org or at the Metro Parks main office, 4702 S. 19th. There will be no day-of-race registration. $15 registration fee includes t-shirt.
This event is sponsored by Metro Park Tacoma, The Goldfish Tavern, Mad Hat Tea Company, and the Greater Metro Parks Foundation. All proceeds benefit the Greater Metro Parks Foundation.
Hold on a second … We run 5k from the entrance of Point Defiance to the Goldfish Tavern? Alternatively, we could just turn around at the starting line and walk the 20 yards to the Goldfish Tavern. Or…we could start at the Goldfish Tavern, enjoy a cold beverage, and run the course backwards – going upstream – salmon style. So many possibilities … as long as we get a t-shirt.
