The Helm opens Thursday

The Helm, the newest art gallery in Tacoma, opens this Thursday for ArtWalk. The two creators, Sean Alexander and Peter Lynn, are bringing cutting edge art and creative events to the gallery. Last month, they brought a rock show to Tacoma.
Their first show, The Kindness of Strangers, originated out of a request to national and international artists to “help a stranger” and give the gallery a piece of art for its first show.
In today’s Tribune, Rosemary Ponnekanti has a good feature story about the gallery and its co-creators. Check it out.
The Helm is located at 760 S Broadway in the Bostwick. Their opening reception is 5 – 8 pm Thursday, September 20.
Announcement of the opening also on Spew

About 6 weeks ago I had the pleasure of dining at the Stadium Bistro. Since it was an early Friday nite and I was alone,I sat at the bar. A great decision as I had a chance to meet and talk to Peter Weikel. Ever the gracious host, I was also given a tour of the kitchen and met his son the chef. My meal was outstanding and well worth the price. I lived in San Francisco and the Bay Area for 43 years, so I have had lots of good food. I can’t wait to take my foodie daughters when they come to visit. We are lucky to have the Peters here. And, Peter, thanks for talking straight. Be patient with Tacoma as we grow up, some of them make me grumpy too!

I was just sharing with “the girlfriends” this morning about how fabulous Stadium Bistro is. About how it’s a fabulous place for fresh food, how they make their own mayonnaise and sausage and much, much more. About how it’s a great place, for FABULOUS food at a fair price (it’s not a diner, it’s not El Gaucho), and you leave feeling that every bite was worth every calorie (and dollar), but without being over-stuffed with over-sized portions. Time well-spent. Money well-spent. And an experience well-worth having. Fabulous place. Fabulous food. Fabulous people. Thank you Stadium Bistro! And did I mention it’s fabulous?
